Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota Chapter
The Ice Bucket Challenge in 2014 had both an immediate and lasting impact in our region. The funds our Chapter received allowed us to eliminate waiting lists for both our Durable Medical Equipment and Communication/Assistive Device programs. This meant that individuals who had been waiting for equipment had items shipped to them immediately and as requests for additional items followed, our coordinators were able to keep inventory stocked at a sustainable level. Not having to wait for items that improve quality of life and maintain independence means much to families living with ALS.
Additionally, Ice Bucket dollars allowed us to triple our annual research contribution, which set a precedent that our Board has been committed to upholding in the years since. Seeing the impact that the global influx of funds has had on research further motivates our community to do everything in our power to create a world without ALS. Many thanks to everyone who donated to the Ice Bucket Challenge, and who continue to support our mission. We could not do this without you!
