St. Louis Regional Chapter
Donations from the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge have enabled our chapter to expand support people with ALS and their families in our community. We’ve doubled the funding provided to the ALS Certified Center of Excellence at Saint Louis University and forged new partnerships with ALS-specific clinics at Washington University and the John Cochran VA Medical center which serves our nations heroes.
We’ve been able to double the amount of nutritional supplements provided to patients who can no longer swallow solid food and are dependent upon these supplements to maintain their weight and protect their already fragile immune systems.
Additionally, these added funds have allowed us to increase the amount of caregiver relief grants provided, so that weary caregivers can experience brief moments of rejuvenation that they so richly deserve. We’ve also increased the amount of home modification grants provided to families to help keep people battling ALS in their homes longer and reduce the emotional strains of caregiving in the home.
Many thanks to everyone who donated to the Ice Bucket Challenge, and who continue to support our mission. We could not do this without you!
